Never heard about 1616 Arita / Japan? Maybe Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings rings a bell...
A wonderfull collaboration between both of them resulted in the Scholten and Baijings’s Colour Porcelain tableware collection... three series of porcelain called Minimal, Colourful and Extraordinary. Including plates, cups, serving platters, bowls, candleholders, vases and a tea set.
1616 Arita / Japan is one of the oldest Japanese porcelain manufacturers, much renowned for its quality and fine hand-painted decorations. Their collaboration resulted in a superb mix of simple, functional porcelain forms with typical Japanese colours. From aquarelle blue, light green, over red-orange and yellow ochre.
The designs bring new light on Japanese tradition, mixing Asian craftsmanship with European culture. A great design collaboration to be seen and bought!
